IvritNet (IRC.CO.IL) is a dedicated Hebrew-speaking IRC network, founded by oackly on September 21, 1999.
For over two decades, it has been a hub for real-time conversations, community discussions, and technical support.
The network was created after the closure of the hebrew channel on DALnet and a mass ban of Israeli users, providing a stable and independent home for Hebrew-speaking IRC users.
IvritNet was a pioneer in IRC innovation, introducing features that were not available on other networks at the time:
IvritNet also developed its own unique services, since no existing solutions were close to the real DALnet services. These services were initially written in TCL by Kobi_S, based on DALnet's service concepts but entirely original in implementation. After Kobi_S left the network, the services were maintained by oackly and Super_B to ensure the network's stability and continued operation. Later, after returning to the network, Kobi_S rewrote the services in C to significantly improve performance and functionality.
